Pillars of Eternity discussion thread (so Breesus doesn't go postal)

I'm all over this. I'm not a PC gamer however but have been replaying BG, BGII, and IWD on ipad and grew up with BGII and NWN.

I have an XPS dell laptop a couple years old, but I think it will be able to handle the game well enough. I'm just worried about set-up, I don't like the screen on it and the thing gets super hot. I can fix the screen problem by HDMI to a tv, but would anybody have any suggestions on a set-up?

I thought very very hard on buying a desktop rig just so I can play this game but that seems like a big stretch just to be able to play one game in my spare time, even for 100's of hours. Ipad and concole gaming is just so much more comfortable, you don't need a desktop on a desk with a chair, you can lounge in the comfort of your living room. PC gaming you have to have hands on a keyboard and mouse and be sitting in an upright position...sorry to bitch so much, I'm just noting the differences between the varieties of platforms these days.

I wonder how a 360 controller would work for this game... I think I'll just order a laptop cooler pad and set up a table somewhere. I didn't get in for the backer beta but I wish I had. Looking very much forward to diving in head first into this game.

I backed this forever ago. I get the kickstarter emails still, but wasn't aware that it's so close to release! Excited to get my code in.

No, it releases on Thursday for us commoners (include downloading it from whatever service you purchased it from...steam, etc.)

The streamers on Twitch received a media-only press release copy to help build the hype before the official release. What's nuts is those who received the media release can only stream "the first 15 hours of gameplay". Rumor (probably true, based on Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale games of the past) is there is 80-100+ hours of gameplay here.

Also, it's been confirmed they are already working on a DLC roughly the equivalent size of Tales of the Sword Coast add-on for the original Baldur's Gate.

And it's only $45.

My fapping is absurdly out of control at this point.

Not if we have to wait for the entire download at time of release.


Also, it's no rumor. Obsidian says just the mainline will take you 50-80 depending in difficulty. Doing all the side quests and everything is going to double that. It's a massive game.


I was taking a look at some of the videos out on YouTube and I really love the mechanics of this game, all the stats are valuable and there will be so many different options and tactics to use based on how you build characters.

I just wish this game had come out when I had more free time like around the holidays. Spring time there's so much to do rather than No Life a game lol.
