Guess i'm getting it today. Never played any of the series until about 3 months ago, i picked up AC3 and loved it. Don't think i'm going to go back and play the old ones, but def going to continue on with Black Flag.

You should at least play ac2. It was the best one all around.

Also, do you know the list of AC games on PS3?

AC1
AC2
AC3
AC4

I've also seen Brotherhood & Revelations. Where do these fit in? TIA

Brotherhood and revelations are extensions or AC2. Brotherhood is really good too.

I got bored with the Assassin's Creed franchise midway through Brotherhood. Is this game more of the same?

Would be a huge mistake. Ranking the games from best to worst IMO:

AC2
Brotherhood
AC3
Revelations
...
...
...
AC1 (by far the worst, but I'm glad I played it for the story tie-ins)

Was "meh" on AC1 (too repetitive). Loved me some AC2. AC3 bored me to fricking death - hated how linear it felt. This game appears to be a complete 180 from where AC3 seemed to be leading the franchise.

Is this game really that much better than AC3?

As a guy who has never played the series, should I pick up AC4 first or play through some of the older versions to get an idea of the whole story?
TIA

Play through the whole thing. The other games will be much cheaper, obviously, and you will still enjoy the hell out of them. By the time you finish all the others, AC4's price will have gone down.

I started with AC3. I watched full gameplay for the first 2 on YouTube to get caught up.

I would really play them though. playing them gets you used to certain things and stuff to look for.

Cheated yourself out of a lot of great gameplay.

Why would you watch videos of someone else playing a great game instead of playing it yourself.

No thanks, I don't want to drive your Lamborghini, I just want to watch you drive it.

I am having to fight the urge to go pick this game up. I just really want it for some reason and I'm not even a huge AC fan.

I've played through every single AC to date and can't wait to pick up Black Flag after work. Although some of the games were better than others, the overall story arc is one of the better ones out there imho. I'm not sure how much farther the plot can be taken however.

the game was always centered around a power stuggle and the templars on one side of the struggle. I could see this franchise going into ww2 where the nazis are templars. Think of indiana jones

Desmond and his group bombs the WTC and the Templars come to invade their homeland.
