But then again so was secret of mana for the SNES the remake business is a curious one.

It's annoying and I wish the exclusive thing would stop honestly outside of 1st and 2nd Parties.

They just got the same game and Crash hasn't been relevant for a decade or more.

Whenever they decide to show the new Pokémon game and a date is when I’ll get the switch

The reason I said that is because games like the NS trilogy are often considered system sellers, which most of the time, is the whole point of exclusives.

Imagine having one system, buying another for a game you really like, then it being released on the system you have like a year later. I know buying a system for one game when you already have one is quite dumb, but stuff like that does happen.

That’s more of what I was alluding to.

Do you view NS as a system seller? I don't, at least not anymore.

Oh yeah, this is completely annoying. I'm not disagreeing. 3rd Party Exclusives are detrimental to the industry. I wish companies would have learned since the indie explosion where there is rarely exclusivity. Or where exclusivity is rare because it's usually small teams working on it.

But Square not throwing Mana on Switch and Xbox, or Activision not putting CB on every platform....just pointless.

I'm not a huge Smash fan, but if Nintendo can make this a new smash and not a port, they will have another shortage of consoles around the holidays. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a shortage after undertale is released undertale people are CRAZY

So I just got an email from Nintendo about the Direct....

Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros. (working title) Coming to Nintendo Switch™ this year

Hmmmm....Not calling it "Deluxe" or "Complete." Not really clarifying either way.

I still think it's a port, but that is strange.

So, Sakurai’s tweet is implying that this is not an elaborate port: LINK

If it isn’t, I have a hard time believing that it will be released this year. The past two had frick tons of delays to the point it was annoying. If this is being built from mostly the ground up, I’d bet my life savings that it won’t be released this year. I mean Breath of the Wild was guaranteed for 2014, but they delayed that very significantly.

If so, I could see a Smash 4 port maybe....

That was because of the WiiU debacle though. No point wasting that title on the WiiU.

That, and I think Nintendo knew they were sitting on a masterpiece and to not rush it at all.

Did we ever get definitive word about Smash. If it truly is a brand new game in the series, then that's huge news. I don't care at all about a port.

I guess, but that game did show that he's still a liked character at least. The N. Sane trilogy sold more than any Kirby or Metroid game in the past 20 years. Those are relevant franchises. That said, I don't know why anyone would sad about it moving around. We knew a PC port was coming, so a Switch port isn't too surprising.

I don't think we will until E3 at this point. It's one of three things:

1) An enhanced port
2) Same engine as 4, new game
3) New engine, New Game

I feel like 3 is least likely honestly. And if it is 3, it isn't coming out in 2018. No way.

Neither of those franchises are system sellers either, honestly. They might be relevant from an originality and history perspective, but Metroid has always been a mediocre sales performer outside of Prime. That's why they don't make a lot of them.

As fun as Star Allies looks, it won't push new people to buy the Switch.

Yeah it makes complete sense.

It's kind of like Shadow of Colossus or Persona. Lots of fans on the internet, but both barely sell 1-2 million.

I like Zelda and Mario enough, but a good Metroid game is truly the only nintendo IP that gets me excited.

I don't think this Direct was particularly all that great. More third party ports of games already released for other consoles much earlier and games we already knew where coming. I am excited for Mario Tennis, Octopath Traveler, and the Hyrule Warriors remaster, but I couldn't care less about the rest of the games announced.

I have the highest amount of apathy for anything Super Smash Brothers.

Don't you dare lump me in with the group!!! I love Metroid and it is a system seller for me personally. But as a general rule: people just aren't that into adventure games. A Metroid game (a side scroller) might even do worse in today's climate due to the indie scene and games like Ori that were absolutely phenomenal.
