love my define r4. great quality, heavy steel, doesn't have that plasticy aesthetic. Nice finish that doesn't show a lot of fingerprints

eta the only negative about fractal cases is that they really aren't WC optimized per say. They support all the pre fab stuff, but the define r4 is really too compact to fit standard rads. They do offer a define XL R2 that has more WC as well as EATX and XLATX support, but for some reason they put 4 5.25 bays in it. Who the eff needs 4 optical bays? /rant

the case has a rudimentary but useful 3 fan controller built in. I have used my optical drive once. I didn't think the bay rez was that popular among enthusiasts. If I were buying an XLATX motherboard and doing watercooling I would rather use a stand up rez and pump. You might be right, but it would be nice if those extra bays were removable. I guess I can't complain with a $150 case with it's build quality.

I hear you. I think the guys that use the bays for reservoirs are those that compete or like to show off the glitz of the build.

Personally, I think two 5.25" drive bays are more than sufficient for almost any build.

Good deal and is it a good board?

looks like a great deal. I have the extreme 4 and really like it and I think I paid like 115 for mine.

The only downside I have found for asrock boards is not being able to turn OFF the turbo overvolt. It's really not a big deal. You'd be better asking coyote as I still haven't messed with my overclock too much.

I'm using 3 bays right now. Two hotswap bays from my HDD and SSD and one for a fan controller.

Plus one of these if they ever go back in stock LINK

Hell. Yes. I've been looking at one for a bit and am upgrading to a 3770k tomorrow and picking the E6 up as well. Only shitty part is it'll be less than my E4 3570k I bought a couple months ago

Mother of god. Amazing.

Side note: I'm figuring up a build for a friend of mine who will be using it primarily for premiere and after effects. What gpu should I go with? He's getting the same E6 3770k combo as me but Idk about gpu. Right now I'm leaning towards the gtx670 4GB or the 680.

Should go with the 3820 over the 3770 IMO.

I would get the 7970 3gb or 680 2gb over a 670 4gb everyday of the week.

Considered it but microcenter had the 3770k at $229 and the z77 extreme6 for $99.

He hasn't decided on the GPU yet. He talked to someone at adobe that said the 670 4GB would be better than a standard 680 for premiere. I'm pretty much leaving it up to him at this point

Ah, I thought it was for gaming. I don't know much about adobe and how it works with specific cards, so I have no idea how the 670 4gb will do compared to a 680/7970

Yeah its primary for work usage. He'll probably do some casual gaming but nothing extreme.

I'm impressed with microcenter. They said they were our of the extreme6 boards but we found 2 stashed behind some extreme4s. That was too good to pass up. They're pushy as hell though

They get spiffs for their "sales" numbers. That's why they all fight to put their little sticker on your purchases.

I mostly ignore them. My research is done when I hit the store and I just use them to get my order together for me. Then they can put their little sticker on my stuff.
