Man, if they made cross slash look that slick, I can’t wait to see what the rest of Cloud’s limit breaks look like.

And there was always subtext in the original that shinra was the real cause of the plate disaster.
I don't think there was anything subtle about it. The original game shows quite clearly that Shinra was behind the plate falling and crushing the Sector 7 Slum. I just want to see if they explain why Shinra decided to self-sabotage their own reactor instead of having AVALANCHE destroy it like in the original.

I'll always say "may-ko", but I think it's pronounced the other way because of how the Japanese language works.
Mako, in Japanese, is two characters "??" (mah-ko).
ETA: I guess TD turns kana in questions marks.

Talking about sector 1. Sector 7 was a bigger thing. Sector 1 casualties were blamed on Avalanche.
Pretty sure the only time it was questioned in the OG was Jesse telling Cloud that she thought she made the bomb smaller. A non-mandatory conversation.

Oh just play the damn thing
Nothing is spoiled, especially if you played the original. It's short.
BTW I will be the first to say it, it's not perfect IMO.

This was my biggest disappointment. I'm going to have my favorite game of all time's main plotline retconned to spoken "Mack-o" now and its going to ruin my childhood

I wonder how they will portray this guy in Sector 5. I think they say the Mako made him sick.

That's pretty easy. You have an organization that showed they aren't capable of destroying the reactor. You then destroy the reactor, blame AVALANCHE and make them seem more of a threat than they really are. Then when you escalate forces, you appear justified.

Like I was saying. The subtext was in the original but not expanded a lot. It could have always been Shinra that caused the explosion of sector 1 to be bigger.

Avalanche wanted to disable the reactor, not hurt civilians. Shinra sabotaged it to make Avalanche look worse.

That's sector 7.
We are talking about the sector 1 reactor.
The part I am referring to is when they get back from the sector 1 reactor explosion. Jessie is looking at the TV in the basement. The news is showing the explosion. She is bobbing back and forth upset, if you talk to her she says she followed the instructions and the bomb was not supposed to be that big.
A lot of people could have taken that as she is an idiot or that something else was amiss. Now they are making sure of it. Maybe something was lost in translation as well. FF7 was a mess of a translation.
Here is the actual lines

It should actually be mah-koh (short a, long o). It's an actual word that means "magic light" not just something made up for the game. Learned that once upon a time.

Did you guys not think the elevator scene was corny? Barret is going to be a disaster in voice acting form. just screaming nonsense.

You're correct.
I don't know the kanji for mako, I was just pointing out that "ma" in Japanese has the short a sound. That's my only guess as to why that's how it's pronounced that way in English.

Pretty sure I've heard it pronounced "Mahko" in the the spin off material so the fact that this is blowing people's mind is amusing to me.

Did you not play the original game? That's his character. He rants, complains, and provides the comic relief for the game.
