Something similar happened to me in FF2. Was literally steps away from a save point but got into a battle. Party died and I took the disc out of the console and threw it against the wall. Never played it again. I can't remember ever being so mad at a game in my life.

My advice to you if you are still not liking how tough it is to steal. Go dig up the midgar key fron bone village. You should be able to at that point in the game. Sell a master all materia for the shite ton of money it gives you. Then go back to midgar and buy the glove that makes stealing super easy. You get it from the guy who sells the batteries early in the game and it is very pricey but makes stealing almost 100%.

Really the most frustrating parts of 7 is when you fight the enemies that will put a combo of statuses on you like sleep and poison. Thank the lord for Ribbons. The few times I died on my last play through was because I took off my Ribbons in the wrong area.

I cannot stand whiny bitch characters, especially ones that are given superpowers and they still bitch. Hence my undying hatred of Hope. He was more annoying than Navi from Zelda.

In regards to the multi status ailments comment, one of the 4 times I've died was because I was fighting a giant plant in the snow world that would turn my team into silenced, sleeping frogs. He kills CID and Tifa, then tries to attack Cloud with his only attack, an ice based beam. Cloud has ice ring, so I could never die. Eventually just turned it off

I loved 8. It is actually my favorite storyline. To complex for others I guess. X was just the most well rounded.

I didn't particularly like him, but I did not find whiny or annoying. I thought he was opposite of that at times because he was motivated by revenge and was out to kill Snow for half the game.
