Read the link above. He even puts together a PC for that budget (roughly)

My sample builds are a little out of date, but once you've done some reading we can work on that part.

Read the PDF version please. I'm keeping that updated more often because the forum code/character limit here is annoying.

Sigh.... Or you can take the easy way out and go with Blue's build.

However, since I'm not much on MMOs, an important question is how many threads do they use... If we're talking about single and 2-threaded games that rely more on the CPU than most games, we may need to pay more attention to that CPU. Otherwise, I approve that build.

Nah, I don't think we've done a build for him yet. I remember him mentioning a short while ago that he had a $1200 or $1500 budget for a build soon.

OK, so would three monitors in portrait mode actually work well for Battlefield?

Same, I think surround gaming is absolutely horrible. Hated every game I tried to play.

Terrible fckking experience; the only thing it would work on are racers.

Here it is

Well i went a little over budget but i really wanted an SSD. i didn't add an OS either but i think i can manage that later.

It said compatibility mode was on but can you guys go over it and make sure for me? and if i have any terrible parts that need replacing let me know as well. Thanks again and thanks for the PDF it had a lot of useful info. i used mainly your advice but i also tried to target items with the highest # of 4-5*reviews.

Eh, I disagree with a good bit in that build. For $1200, a 760 isn't the card you want, 16gb is too much, 1tb hdd are a few dollars more than that 500gb (~$5 more), and don't pay $17 for that fan

Edit: Dat 780 tho

Edit #2: PSU's of the same quality go on sale for less pretty often, so that PSU was more of a place holder. I would get something around 500w or something over 750w for future SLI'ing.

You may also add a cooler, and I made this one earlier before knowing you wanted a blu ray

cool man. I dont really have to have a blue ray i dont even buy hard copies of movies. just added it because it was $50. I didnt read into optical drives that much so i didnt know about performance needed from them. The PDF kind of turned me away from AMD but if i have to sacrifice a little here to get a lot there (780) then i guess its ok.

Anyone else have thoughts?

Then there's no need for one (torrenting is your best friend). I haven't used an optical drive in years.

The 8320 is a great processor, especially for the price. You just missed it on sale for somewhere around $130, IIRC
