Dead Island is Far Cry 3 lite.

Not story/premise.
I should have played DI first. At least with FC3 there is a sense of the game progressing, and your missions are actually getting somewhere.
If I take a camp, my faction moves in. I hit a tower, my map expands.
DI is the same fetch-it quests, minus the reward.
Can any of you that have played through the game assure me that it gets better? If not, I am done.

The game became good once I got ahold of some real weapons in the later sections, but it is tedium defined early game.

Guess I like different things. Dead Island was great except for the repair weapons stuff, Far Cry 3 I beat and will never play again.

Really? I would rank it last on my good FPS experiences. It was a good game but nothing exceptional.

Probably because you were too busy changing keys and macros around to notice how awesome it is!
I found FC3 to be an enthralling single playthrough experience as well, but since I did everything in one save file I have no "want" to do any of it again.

Didn't macro anything in the game and once I set my keys I am done changing them.

I was as sad about finishing FC3, as I was about finishing the Harry Potter Series.
Just so sad to see it end, because the ride was so fun.

Far Cry 3 had good graphics and a good plot.
There was absolutely zero redeeming qualities besides that.
I played/enjoyed dead island a lot longer.

I'd suggest getting a co-op partner for DI. It's exponentially more fun if you do
I agree the fetch quests can be tedious though. I did half with a co-op partner, half solo. I ended up finishing it solo.

CO-OP is the way to go if you can. As far as the game it gets a lot better once guns get easier to resupply and acquire. I think that happens about half-way through the the 2nd chapter or the downtown area.
