Can you recommend a gaming/Youtube video editing software?

I want to buy my son a setup for Christmas. I would assume I need a good HD webcam and mic. Is there a preferred software that most of the youtubers use? Doesn't have to be free software.

Actually interested in this too. My brothers autistic and sits at home playing games 20 hrs a day. Grandpa and I have been thinking of ways to give him some sense of pride and accomplishment since he will never be able to hold a real job and thought he'd enjoy streaming. Budget isn't an issue. What's a top notch rig run these days?

Roblox. But not live streaming. I don't want him doing that or interacting on twitch. He doesn't know what that is yet, luckily.

But he would like to play, narrate, and record. I bet he'll figure out how to post them on youtube, but I'll deal with that when he gets there.

if that is all you would like to do, you can use Open Broadcasting(er?) Software (OBS).

It's what a majority of streamers use to stream, but it has a recording feature. I don't think you can edit the videos using it, just record it

I've used OBS to stream and recommend it as well.

I have never recorded on it though......I've only recorded through Twitch.

Pretty sure you'll also need an HD capture card to actually go back and load it onto Youtube. You can do like 15 min videos on PS4/Xbone, but to save long periods I'm pretty sure you'll need a nice capture card which are a couple hundred bucks.

Why would you need a separate card to capture the video?

You are doing screen capture.

I have no experience w/ doing it all on a computer, I only mentioned a capture card in case he's having to do it on a console.

Sorry for not clarifying, OP.

If it's on a console, you can't capture the video straight through OBS. At least no way that I've found.

Use the Xbox app on a PC to stream your Xbox to your PC. Not as good as a capture card but it works
