I have a lot to go before the story unfolds though. I think this is the longest I have every played an ac game and not been an assassin yet

I'd like the game more if I actually felt like an assassin. So far I feel like I'm just a pirate pretending to be an assassin, which I guess is true but still

I actually like the fact that the game isn't entirely centered around the lame arse assassins-Templars feud.

I liked that feud but felt like they always drag it out throughout the game. I can't tell you who any of the enemies of previous games are. I always just killed whoever they said.

I like this game cause it feels like an upgraded Sid Meyers pirates with a bit of assassins creed. I need to get back into it and take down the legendary ships

Is there a point to the animus fragment or are they just there to collect?

I still think ac2 is better, but this is easily the second best. My only complaints are the ridiculous naval optional objectives, the uncharted chests and animus fragments, and the moving away from the "conspiracy aspects" of the the previous games. Seriously, the truth video in ac2 is one of the coolest moments in gaming history. The series plot-line was unreal up until ac3.

I dont think there is a point. I was pissed when i got all of them and all the chest and there was no achievement for it.

There is no direct reward for it, just needed to reach 100% which I will not be doing anyway.

If you collect them all you get the "Dead Man's Crew" (or something like that).
Basically makes your crew on the Jackdaw all skeletons.
ETA: It's called the Deceased Crew cheat.

And I read somewhere that you get the cheat if you collect all the animus fragments, but IGN says you have to complete 100 animus challenges. So I'm not sure - I haven't gotten it.

Not interested in traveling all around to collect them just for a skeleton crew. I'm not really a completionist, so that doesn't matter to me.

Yeah its annoying you even have to do it in a ship
I wish they had more puzzles in the game I think it was AC 2 but I enjoyed having to figure out how to get from one place to another. I know they have a few towards the end but I would like more
