I know the government subsidizes the hell out of corn but why is it in everything from HFCS, corn starch, etc. I really do think this is a main reason most Americans are over weight (besides the fact that they eat like crap). It is a chore to find stuff in the store that doesn't have an corn products in it besides fruit and vegetables

Corn sucks, it isn't good for you, has been genetically modified over and over, people think it's healthy...

Screw corn. It's pure crap.

Food giants want you to eat more, get fat, eat even more, etc. Corn is a great tool for this purpose. As a bonus the drug makers can medicate you for all the ensuing health issues.

The amount of water and chemicals used to grow corn is a disaster too.

Yes it is targeted a lot because it's become an easy target, but it's an easy target for a reason. The fact that it's been so subsidized has lead to it being put into everything which makes us expect everything to be sweet. I went to Japan once and was stunned at their idea of sweets. I literally got served a cherry tomato for dessert once, because they're apparently considered sweet, and a very common sweet there is red bean paste (mashed red beans with sweetener added), it's like their version of strawberry jelly Even Mexican sweet breads are much less sweet than ours, it's basically regular bread with a sugar coating as opposed to American style where in addition to a sweet frosting we add sweetness to the bread as well. HFCS and the government's role in helping it get added to so many foods is most definitely a legit villain when it comes to why America has gotten so damned fat.

No corn = no Bourbon.

Your argument is invalid.

The Meso-Americans would like a word with you concerning the evils of corn.

Also, Whiskey-Americans would like a word with you concerning the evils of corn.

Since corn is exactly the same now as it was then...

Don't demonize corn in its natural state--nothing wrong with non GMO, non pesticide drenched whole grain corn. Object instead to the highly processed forms of corn: extracted corn oil, corn sweeteners, extracted corn gluten, and the list goes on and on.

I feel the same way about soy. I often wonder about the gym rats who are obsessed with their bodies, yet they pack their gullets full of highly processed soy protein.

Fortunately, both are easy to avoid. Don't eat anything that comes in a box or package (with notable exceptions like whole grain pasta). Kick the processed food habit and you can easily have a corn and soy free diet.

You shut your blasphemous mouth. SIR!

Also, I was just replying to the OP's blanket statement about corn. I wasn't even touching on the GMO/non-GMO debate.

Corn's important, yo!
