I can only speak about the Martin’s pick of Sinclair: that is one outstanding pour. I bought two after trying it. Jeff at Martin’s says he gets tootsie roll from it, and I think he is spot on. It does come in hot, so a touch of water improves in IMO.

I'm taking a weekend trip to Houston this weekend and looking for some honey holes to tap. Either in Houston or even on the way. Is the place in Beaumont worth a stop? What about in Houston?

I used to cherry pick great shite out of Houston (like van winkle out of Mexican supermarkets and Weller 107 handles for cheap). It is now picked over big time.
I was impressed recently with specs on smiths scotch though. You would like Houston Wine Merchant, I think. Its pricier though.
Poison Girl and Anvil for pours though. Anvil, Cameratas and Hugos are my Houston happy places for food and drink.
Cameratas is a great wine bar. Very casual. I would dine at Giacomo then head there. Maybe a happy hour at Toungue Cut Sparrow or Anvil.
