Add the worst shuffleboard playing surface in the universe to all the other negatives already covered in this thread.

Great neighborhood bar that has great history for over twenty years. When I'm back in town, I head to Ivars and there is always a friend.

I can walk there.

Okay bar food.

Non smoking / open on Sundays.

And, I'm done.

That isn't enough to get me there more than a few times per year.

Last time I went to Ivar's (this past football season) I felt ancient. Felt like everyone was staring at me thinking to themselves: "Wtf is my Anthropology TA doing here?"

Great history but that was in the past. I've been there about a dozen times and it's always overpriced and dirty. Decent to terrible bar food at best. Old school watering that needs an update as these old farts die off. It's in a great location.

By history do you mean the accumulation of history that's been building up in the tap lines for the last twenty years?

I don't disagree with anything said in this thread... If I decide to go with people to Ivars its as if I've conceded to having a mediocre night.

BUT I'll throw one the bars way and say that their wings are some of the best in town.

Next time in there look at the trophy case deal with the white LSU helmet. I guess dusting or cleaning the last 10 years wasn't too important?

I do enjoy ivars because its a good crowd and we have fun there. But the prices are too high but can you blame the owners? If people will pay those prices why not charge them.

Also check out some of the TVs in the room to the left when you walk in...a couple of 13 inch tube tvs in a shelf...nice

Thats a shady place....always pay cash or you will get screwed.

Regulars that belong in a museum..... Hahahaha. Totally agree. As a guy who makes Guinness part of his diet, the lasttime I was extremely upset at a bar/restaurant was when I took a sip from a poorly & never cleaned tap line. Ughh. I hate even thinking bout it. And it was like $7. And they didn't fill it all the way up, which is a whole other thread I bees to start.

Ivar's should be called "company policy" everyone goes there, nobody has a clue why, and it really makes no sense whatsoever...

Do we work for the same company?
