You sounds like a Golden Corral kind of guy.

Never been. Heard good things though. No I’d just rather go somewhere like penettas where I could get two entrees and a bottle of wine and leave full for under 70

Dang, heard so much about this place. It was a bucket list for me.

As another poster said don't let a single opinion sway you.

My issue with Lugars outside of the poor service and lackluster sides is how they over char the meat (even on a rare steak)as well as over salt it. Plus I am not usually a fan of kitchen cut steak. There is fine beef inside the devil's breath burned outside but it simply ruins the cow for me.

I would much rather eat at Cut or St Elmo, even Dickie Brennan's satisfies me more. Porterhouse, Sparks and Bowery Meat Co are all better NYC steakhouses. Again IMO.

The Baton Rouge Location is supposed to be on par with the original in Greenville(My ex has eaten both several times).

Is it though? I've been to both several times as well and don't know where this is coming from.

I may be in the minority here, but I think they cook a damn good steak. It's obviously pricey but there are many other restaurants that I would put ahead of Doe's when it comes to overrated. Maybe the laid back and casual atmosphere has something to do with it?

I like the food. It's just expensive and not really any better than Outback or Texas Roadhouse to me.

What. The. frick.

medium-rare.

Gotcha, I've never been but was just curious if that was the case. Maybe they just use sub-par quality beef.

Who the frick goes there for the beer and wine selection? You go there for the thin catfish, and you understand that you will need to make it spicy since they cater to the grey hairs.

Only on the OT will you see someone griping about the lack of a proper sommelier at a roadside catfish shack.

I agree. It is good, but not exactly worth the hour drive to get there.

So you're calling a restaurant overrated because you live an hour away from it? GTFO with that bullshite

They don't serve the best steak in NOLA by any stretch, but the filet and strip I've had from there were both very good. There are better steaks for your money in the city, but I've never been disappointed with the steaks there.

If you want to be disappointed in your steaks, just hit up Morton's.

Fleur de Lis - It's like eating greasy cardboard.
Sammy's - Mediocre at best
Ruth's Chris - I'll pass.

Middendorf’s is way overrated. It’s terrible. Mother’s is a close second, though.

Wasn’t overly impressed with NOBU in Downtown Manhattan, but the one in Malibu was amazing, so I probably just had a bad experience.

Middendorf's is good if you get the thick cut instead of the catfish flavored potato chips they call thin

Their thick cut is what I call thin
