I don't either. I said it was retarded to say it's objectively bad. I stated it was overrated in comparison to the steakhouses here in Dallas especially.

It's not that when I leave there I hated my meal, I just don't get why people hold in such high regard.

I agree. It's nothing overly special to me.

Well yeah, it's not bad, I just think it's not worth going to.

Ruth's becoming franchised like it has takes some of the uniqueness away that you will find a lot of the other locally owned places. However, most places opened after 1990 or so thrive off of the Ruth's model.

You might like the atmosphere at your local places, but Ruth's Chris still makes excellent steaks.

Ruffino's for me. What kind of a-hole sells only pasta for 13 bucks?

created a high end steakhouse with a white table cloth experience, centered around prime steaks, cooked & broiled in a 1800 degree oven

when were all those steakhouses you posted founded? I bet all after 1990.

high end steakhouses were popularized by Ruth's Chris. look it up.

Peter Luger's: 2 locations

Ruth Chris: 130+ locations in 3 countries

Im not saying they invented the steakhouse. I am saying a steakhouse boom came after they expanded throughout the 80s and 90s.

Peter Luger has been around since the 1800s
Ruth Chris started in the 1960s

Morton’s was founded in 1978. Del Friscos in 1981. Ruth’s Chris in 1977.

My point is, there were a large number of chain steakhouses that came about around the same time. Ruth’s Chris was a part of that “boom”, but it didn’t happen because of them. That’s just dumb.

Another vote for RC being over rated. The sides are great but the steak is the definition of meh.

You go to Middendorfs for one reason, thin fried catfish. I love it.
However, everything else on the menu sucks.

Love both of these restaurants but they are not what most on here are looking for, especially if you did not grow up on it.

I can’t really take a list seriously that includes a steakhouse where the best thing on the menu is a fricking pork chop

Just listing off the top of my head. Avoided del friscos because I think that place is meh too. Sub knife in there if you want. That place is great.

In the last few years, I'd say La Petite Grocery, hands down. They need therapy for that salt fetish of theirs.

anyone saying ruth's chris is overrated is simply comparing ruth's menu pricing to some other less expensive restaurant.

when comparing prime steakhouses, ruth's is fine. are they the best? no. but they definitely arent the worst, and their pricing is on the lower end of the spectrum (for prime steakhouses). the food and service is consistent.

saying ruth's is overrated is akin to saying chipotle is overrated.
