NY State of Mind
It has been a few weeks. Has anyone been lately, not immediately after the makeover?

I went and got a pie the other night. It was already stretched and had some sauce on it, on a freakin rack, par-baked.
He removed the half baked pizza, put more sauce and some cheese, along with pepperoni. The toppings did not cook, nor did the cheese get really melted, before he had to quickly pull it out before burning the bottom crust. It was kinda soggy before, due to the sauce and cheese making it wet, now it was dry and burned.-- and 3-4 bucks more. I get speeding things up to keep up with the new volume, but why not just have 2 guys making pizza? Barry stayed in the back, and quietly did his prepwork.
Honestly, was my absolute favorite pizza in baton rouge, now, I wont go back. I'll drive the extra 10 minutes to Omar's new kick arse location next to Tommy's fish house. Roma > new Mama Dellahs.

Been twice. Once really good. Once so-so. Poor service/attitude both times.

Since the makeover? I thought this was the issue the therapist was working on?

I said it in the original thread about this.
You can't fix assholeishness in an owner.

Honestly, I gave up on dining in a long time ago. I just wish Irvine wouldn't have jacked up the awesome pizza they had. Grande whole milk mozzarella cheese, baked in a deck oven, makes an amazing pizza. I think the only person in town using that combination was Mama Dellas. If they didn't change the cheese, I dunno why it tasted differently. the cooking process has been seriously jacked with.

I liked it before, but only went a couple times. I have been wanting to go again, so we did recently.
We went a couple wed nights ago after church. They were pretty busy, so food took a long time - IMO. We ordered 1 pizza and an order of meatballs. Meatballs were delivered in 15 min, but the pizza took over an hour. Barry obviously is the only person allowed in the kitchen, and when its busy - you need to be prepared to wait. We arrived at 6:45 and got our pizza at 8. I understand being short-staffed and having a busy evening. No big deal. I thought the food was pretty good.
One thing that really peaked my attention while there.... Was a couple who walked in at 7:55. They mentioned they were from out of town and wanted to know what time they closed. Barry looked up and said we close at 8, used to stay open later but we werent ever busy, so now we close at 8. The couple asked if they could be served since it was before 8, and Barry said he could make them something "To-Go." The couple obviously didnt want this, so they said thank you but we will find somewhere we can sit.
I looked at my wife in disbelief. He should have been doing cartwheels that folks are comin in his place to eat now, and serving everyone until he locks the door. Unacceptable. Totally understand why he has struggled with business, and likely lost me as a customer. Big whoop, I know.

Mediocre pizza place run by an a-hole, pardon me if I'm not clamoring to get in there.
