The one's I've been to all make a great old fashioned as well as other cocktails, but red wine is the way to go with your steak.
Don't get the filet. Get a strip or ribeye with the potatoes.

NY Strip rare
If you get it rare-"charred", they'll place it on top of the oven where it gets an awesome dark crust outside.
But I agree. The strip is the best cut of meat they offer. It is massive too.

I usually get the veal chop. The wedge salad there is very good.
I like most of their sides. I'm a bit partial to the sweet potatoes and creamed spinach. All the potato sides are good. Love the shoestrings, too. Creme brulee for dessert.

Ruth's is one of the few places I actually get the filet
When I don't, I go with the bone in ribeye
But I always get potatoes au gratin and creamed spinach

Oh, and OP.. you can get half orders of any side, salad, or soup. They don't advertise that.
The shoestring fries, for example, are way too much for anything less than a group of people. So get the half order. It is still huge. And less money.

When we get shoestring fries, it's usually the first thing we order rather than with the entree. I'd rather eat those than the bread.
Good info on the half orders. I didn't realize that. Thanks

The filet sitting in a pool of butter doesn't give it away? I love Ruth's fwiw.

That filet is not very appetizing looking. A little too grey.
