That is perfectly acceptable at Mr. John's, Ruth's Chris, Chop House, La Boca, Morton's and Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse. It's also acceptable at virtually every other restaurant in New Orleans for daytime dining and the vast majority of them for evening dining. Jeans, shorts, sandals, t-shirts, etc. . . . not so much.

I have no doubt. Did you air it out before entering so that the ganja didn't attract attention?

Why not? Last time I went a in Feb of this year, they had lots of people in jeans and t-shirts. They even had a guy in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt.

February = Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras is the only time I notice large numbers of lax'd dressed folks in upscale restrnts n NOLA. For obvious reasons.

That is true and a little different. I've gone out right after Jazz Fest and been very casual. The hostess, made me feel very comfortable as they know it's Jazz Fest. You can't go to an all day outside concert in slacks. Mardi Gras, outside of Mardi Gras day you can still be dressed reasonably.
