seems like granny sliced em,, sugared heavily and they sat out on the fruit porch where she canned and preserved all the fruit. i think they would sorta "dry out" with the heavy sugar and outside air?

I've got three quart mason jars of Meyers I put up and il be damned if I've used them. I'll sit and listen here.

Well my grandma wouldn't know a preserved lemon from a cats arse so I'll rely on your recipes to get me there.

salt makes more sense,,, but seems like they were sweet when she got through with them,,,, maybe a mixture of salt and sugar? i could ask aunt geauxt,, or you could call her? You know her number

they sweeten as they cure in the salt.
