WILL ASK TO have my thread removed.

Pascal’s Manale Restaurant has a long history, a loyal following among New Orleans diners and many traditions preserved under its roof.

Now it also has new owners.

The DeFelice family, the fourth-generation owners of the Uptown institution, have sold Pascal’s Manale to Jessica and Ray Brandt, Sandy DeFelice confirmed today.

Ray Brandt is a New Orleans native who has built a large local network of car dealerships, Ray Brandt Auto Group, representing a dozen auto brands.

“What we’re feeling is a bag of mixed emotions,” DeFelice said, shortly after the sale was completed Tuesday. “You hate to see it go, but it really was the right time to turn the page in our lives and start a new chapter.”

I frequent Pascal's. The floor will remain the same, I've been told unless things don't pan out.

If I can't get my meatballs with spaghetti and garlic off menu, I'll be upset. Their crab and shrimp cocktail is legit as well.

God speed to the DeFelices.

Kind of an odd diversification of business purchase. From selling cars to restaurant industry. I hope it does not change. Not like it’s a restaurant family buying another restaurant.

I used to go frequently when I lived in New Orleans. I haven't been in some years. Last time, I went the bbq shrimp had no flavor and were in a bowl of oil which is not what I remembered. The shrimp were as beautiful and perfectly cooked as always, but I couldn't eat them.

I think the rockefeller sauce there is one of the city's best. Years ago, they had a crabmeat rockefeller entree that was outstanding. It was later offered off menu. Jumbo lump crabmeat baked in an au gratin dish and covered in the sauce. I still dream of that dish.

Not surprised. The next generation had no interest in the restaurant business. I can't blame them. More money in dentistry than bbq shrimp these days.

Great classic Old New Orleans place that was in dire need of a refresher/kick in the pants.

I don't know if a car dealer is the one to do it, though.

It has been years since I went but I had the same experience with the shrimp looking great but in a bowl of oil and not really a tasty sauce. Not worthy a breaking some bread to dip. Evidently so disappointing, I never went back.

I’ll head down asap to get it while it’s still good.

A car dealer is buying it as a vanity project

Manale’s executes that type of cuisine pretty well tbh. Place is always packed.

I don't think it's a bad move. They have been off for a little while. Went for lunch last month, out of shrimp cocktail? How could that be? Waiter, who I know from going a lot, said kitchen having inventory issues. That said, the BBQ shrimp Po Boy was up to par. I don't live far and hope new blood gives it a boost up to what it was/can be.

re: Pascal's Manale Has Been Sold To Ray Brandt
I went a year or so ago and found the shrimp same as always to me. I’m sure there are better versions but I don’t recall ever ordering them anywhere else. Maybe nostalgia.

Quite a few years ago we were in there and my wife asked for the bread pudding recipe. They took her in the kitchen and someone hand wrote it and gave it to her. She still makes it.

It was a little beat up though. Hope Brandt doesn’t try John George’s route and start opening Brandt’s Pacal’s Manale outposts. Freshen the old girl up a bit and let her rip.
