It just depends on the vintage and timing, but it doesn't appear tough to fetch 2-3 times retail for the 15,20, and 23.

I may see what I can get for em. I'd think holidays would be a good time to sell.

Dorignacs has the 20 and 23 yr old for ridiculous prices. Way above the SRP.

The Van Winkle collection consists of several expressions. Suggested retail prices are as follows: $129.99 - Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve Bourbon 20 Year Old
$249.99 - Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve Bourbon 23 Year Old

I still haven't gotten mine from my liquor rep. I'm no priority though...apparently. He tells me any day though.

jefferson reserve 18 year as good or better IMO

also a solid $50 less expensive

No its not. not in the same league.

And where I live, the store that got the largest allotment people waited up all night in front of the store to get it. I rolled in around 10am and they were sold out.

LAME.

I guess I will have to buy it by the glass.

It's here. The store where I've been on "the list" since August got their allotment - 12 bottles and I'm number 36 on the list. Hoping against hope that at least 24 schmucks don't pick up the phone this weekend.

I didn't bother to ask how badly they were going to gouge on price.

I know nothing about this Pappy Van Winkle stuff. Can somebody translate what this means from an email I got from Avenue Pub:

Pappy's wheated whiskies & rye are legendary but many people dont know why. Read the link and you will understand the background on the now closed Stitzl Weller Distillery and why the Jeffersons Reserve 18yr that just came in is so incredibly special.

I got 2 20's, a 23, 2 12's, a 15, a 10, and hoping for my rye still. Took a lot of work this year to finally get an allocation of that small amount. Also got the stagg, handy sazerac, William larue Weller, and eagle rare 17 recently.

Is that cache for personal use or do you have a restaurant? If its the latter, what's the name?

Wish it was personal lol. I run Mansurs. First time since I've been there in 5 years we were allotted the product. Took some serious supporting of buffalo trace distillery to get that. Put Weller, Elmer T Lee, and Eagle Rare 10 on the menu plus previous products and switched my well to ancient age and did some buffalo trace promos. Probably increased my support of the brands by 300%. Have them on a shelf behind the bar. It's beautiful lol

I'm on the list at Total Wine - Atlanta and got the call two weeks ago that the bottles had delivered. Got two of the 20 y/o for $155 each. Last year they were $125. Manager said this was the last time they were doing the list. He said it got too complicated.

Are there any liquor stores in or around New Orleans that sell Old Rip Van Winkle or something close to it? The ABC stores here in Mobile are pretty bland.
