All of that looks outstanding and would look even better next to a nice, juicy steak

Honest truth - I have not had a steak since January, 2017.

Trying to avoid red meat.

And it is summer which means I want as many veggies as possible before frost comes and shuts them down.

Looks very tasty. Reminds me I need to cook down some okra, tomatoes and add shrimp at the end. Cook some rice.

I'd have pork with that meal if I wanted meat, bit I like some meals like that in summer.

We had some nice thick pork chops and I started to cook a couple, but then I decided I could eat more veggies and corn bread if I avoided meat and all in all I think I made the best decision for this meal - to save the pork chops for later.

It actually is a Chicago Cutlery 6 inch Utility knife with carbon steel blade

Close, but now with Stainless blade

I bought mine from Mississippi Butcher Supply in Pearl, Mississippi in 1971.

There are much better knives and I own a couple of them, but that one feels right in my hand and it holds a very sharp edge, at least for a while. To sharpen it and then trim the fat or silver skin from a piece of beef or pork or run the blade down a bone is a nice feeling.

I thought it was a little sad that evidently they no longer make a carbon steel blade knife - only stainless now.

I do understand and agree that there are much better knives and blades out there, but none with the memories that this one has.

Great thread and wonderful looking meal. I like okra all kinds of ways, but you're right. Tough okra ruins your day. Or at least the part of the day that involves eating.
