I went down to Decatur Street for lunch today, just to soak up some of the excitement. It was fun.
ESPN has 5-6 stages in a row, side-by-side in the Jax Brewery parking lot. They were broadcasting the Scott Van Pelt show and I was able to walk right up to the stage. I took a few pics.
There was some other show being brioadcast next to it, but I didn't recognize the hosts, it was like 5 or 6 people in a row on stools. I could have reached out and tapped the one guy right on his shoulder while he was on the air.
A cameraman with a shoulder mounted camera came by to get a crowd shot (I backed out because I was taking a "late lunch"!) Everyone started shouting "Who Dat"!
I ate at Masperos which had no line at all! When we went to leave, the bartender told us that Drew Brees was supposed to be on "The Talk" in Jackosn Square at any minute. We were running late to get back to work, so we headed in the other direction. When we were right in front of the Crescent City Brewhouse, who else comes walking fast towards us with a police escort - Drew Brees!
Some fat lady shouted, "Hey Drew, you're late!" I told her, "Drew Brees is never late. He arrives exactly when he wants to, so STFU!"
All in all, a memorable lunch time on the eve of the Superbowl.

Pretty cool for a lunch break where you didn't even have to drive anywhere.

Super Bowl props
Haven't listened to the link, but I think the props in question refer to prop bets for the Super Bowl (though Simmons is typically complimentary about New Orleans).

How was the crowd there. Think about going for lunch tomorrow but with how small the place is I'm worried it will be too packed. Curbside is my back up.
there were maybe 10 people in there. i went around 1:30pm.
some more tweets, not sure if posted.

yea, I am thinking about wearing a saints shirt when I go down there tomorrow. I just don't wanna be harassed by 49ers or Ravens fans.

F that. I just talk a lil smack then ask then if they are enjoying themselves. Ask where they been and so on. I'll be rocking my black 26 jersey with my Hornets NOLA Mardi Gras hat all day today. Gonna start off with the oysters with beavers eating contest and go from there.

SVP & Russillo's one big thing, for those that don't listen. Props to new orleans for putting on a show.
