Making my famous chili for my wife's work tomorrow and i got a late start cooking it and it's almost done in the crock pot.

My question is, is it ok to just unplug it now and leave it in the crock pot until morning when she takes it to work or should I transfer it to small container and put it in the fridge overnight?

I'm fine either way but was wondering if I could get away with the short cut of just unplugging it now

I leave it overnight all the time.

The OCD crowd will want you to do an ice bath

Time you get it cool, it'll be time to heat it up again. It's fine.

OCD here, I suppose. There's just no reason not to put it in an icewater bath, cool it down and refrigerate. Do you really want to be taking a chance on making your wife's co-workers sick?

Now, in return for this sage advice, I expect you to post the recipe and don't leave anything out. We should add it to the epic chili thread.

He is looking for the "epic" chili thread to post appropriately. Damn that thing was funny as hell.

It's against the rules to ask for and receive advice without sharing the recipe you claim to be so good. Pay up.
