This is my first Mother's Day with my son not here. He called, sent me a gift as well as his love. I miss him so much.

My husband made our Mother's Day meal today. He bought a boudin & cream cheese stuffed pork tenderloin from Chops in Broussard.

Resting, after being taken off the grill:

He also roasted some butternut squash and made a lovely salad:

The pork tenderloin really is delicious:

(My bite shot is out of focus, dangit.)

What are y'all eating for Mother's Day?

I had no idea how much I'd miss my son today! I don't make a big deal out of Hallmark driven holidays, but I am lonesome for my boy!

Your meal looks fab!

I asked hubs to make me smoked pork roast, lima beans with ham hocks and jalapeno corn bread.

My Mother's Day brunch was awful.......food was good but service not so much.

See my Bistro Byronz thread for further details.

The wife (MHNBPF) and I had dinner with oldest son and his family yesterday - grilled burgers - nice. She got flowers from youngest son who lives far far away. I took her out for lunch today after church to one of our favorite local restaurants. We went home to see our mothers Friday and Saturday. Took one out and had dinner with the other, who insisted on cooking for us rather than going out with us.

Thanks, Bayou Tiger Fan and Degas and Caplewood!

osunshine, did you get the meal you asked for?

CBLSU, I read your Bistro Byronz thread. Sorry the meal didn't work out. I've only done a Mother's Day restaurant meal once, and it was a chaotic disaster, so I won't make that mistake again.

AmosMoses, I will gladly accept my substitute Mother's Day gift when you come to dinner! ;-)

MD, lucky for you and your wife to both still have your mothers.

Yes we are. It was a difficult holiday for the mothers. My father died about two months back on March 4th of this year and the wife's father died five days later on March 9th.

My wife cooked for our moms. She always wants to give up her own day to make a special meal for our mother's. Everything from scratch and a true 4 course meal. She even makes menus for the occasion.

Sorry, no actual food pics, but I'll be eating on leftovers all week.

How did he get that bacon so crispy without overcooking the pork. I've tried pan searing the bacon a bit first, but it really doesn't work well. I either have undercooked bacon which I don't like, or overcooked pork and yummy bacon.
