went to Mondo for the first time last night.
Appetizer: Wood Oven-roasted Artichoke
with Garlic, Breadcrumbs and Pecorino
this was ok, nothing spectacular
Entree':
I had the Kobe flank steak with french fries and bernaise. it was cooked well, but again, nothing really wowed me about the dish.
The GF had the shrimp and smothered okra over Louisiana rice. I only had one bite, but it did give me order envy, IMO, best thing that came to the table
we had 3 of their Mondo margarita's, which were delightfully refereshing, although a bit small for the price.
Service: the waitress I had annoyed the shite out of me, but things came to the table in a timely manner, and my water glass stayed full.
Overall, i was not extremely impressed. i will probably give it another shot or two, mainly because it is close to my house, but for a Spicer joint, I was expecting more.
Meal came out to $100 after tip

My wife and I went a couple of days ago. I found the service to be terrible. My wife's appetizer came out about 10 minutes before mine. We were also there for about 2 1/2 hours.
My wife had the fish of the day and loved it. I had the lamb t-bone and it was cooked exactly like I asked for it. We had the chocolate cake for dessert and was dissapointed.
Highlight of the night was their white sangria. Very good stuff.
I'll definitely go back but not for awhile. They need some time to get their staff issues worked out.

I have not heard many good reports from it at all. Mostly service issues, which is understandable, but I know quite a few who have complained about how small the portions are for the price.

The A/C in the restaurant needs to be replaced. I have heard this from several other people. I share the same feelings as most other people on here about the restaurant but I think it will do well because the nice bar and lack of other places in Lakeview.
