A name pull gift from the office party. The person buying it had no clue what it was but it was the only six pack gift set at Hokus Pokus in Alex so she got it for me. She got it for around $20 which I thought was a pretty good deal.

One of the worst hangovers ever was from cognac.

Hmm, interesting beer they got going on here. Hard to make an immediate conclusion. I rush to compare it to Straight To Ale's Cabernet barrel aged Laika, but that's an RIS and while delicious in its own right, can't be used in comparison. This drinks very much like a wine at first, from the nose and the initial thin, dry sweetness , then is mildly supported by some silky malts. Not sure about the Belgian red ale quality .. not really getting an amber element much either. There's a sour finish that I like. Just not yet convinced if this is a good style to use in wine barrels. Will continue to drink and see if it evolves as it warms or I get drunker.

I am intrigued by that one. Had a few from Blue Pants. Half have been infected. That beer sounds good on paper.

NBD - TO ØL Jule Mælk (Imperial Milk Stout)

Sort of meh, not one of the better milk stouts out there.

My store was out of most Blue Pants, but had this. I try and pick up at least one bomber from them every time. Usually they do some nice things. Never had a spoiled beer .. this one had a wax top. Will continue to check out their new offerings.

Same to you. My daughter is in Malta, of all places, with her boyfriend dude's family. Kinda sad to not have her around.

Sorry you're missing her. I know how great it is to have everyone together for Christmas.
