Does Irene's take reservations?

Does it have to be a certain size group? Last night, 4 of us showed up at 5:45. We were told it would be an hour wait. One of us suggested going to get a drink at the Carousel. Then a guy asked us to hold on because a 10 top hadn't arrived and that he was going to break it up and seat us. So, a girl gets on the phone with the person who booked the reservation and leaves a message. She let them know they would be seated at a later time if they did decide to show up.

Then she tells someone who called right after that they don't take reservations, and that they are booked for a month.

It confused me, that's all.
