I'm not a fan of walking up and down canal street at night.

What show are you catching at the theater and who is going with you?

ETA: you can go casual or make it a formal event depending on circumstances

Domenica is close as is Meaux Bar. both are very good.

Compere Lapin is a few blocks further in the Warehouse District, but it's good.
