Crawfish prices/retailers
Posted by Gtothemoney

Just stopped at a place in Mandeville to get some crawfish ($3.99lb/10lbs or more), and the stores supplier was in there. I overheard the owner complaining that something has to be done about his prices. I got involved in the conversation. The owner told me that they were forced to sell crawfish below their cost in order to get rid of inventory before it died. This supplier is selling to the retailer @ $4.10 per lb.
Now I know I'm gonna hear the old "supply and demand" bull shite here, but wholesale prices for fricking crawfish @ $4.10/lb is just absurd.

Every year there's a new excuse for the price of the bugs. I'm sure the OMGICE had something to do with them gouging this year so far.

Have you not seen the weather in this area the past few weeks. The $4 to the farmer is spot on

Let the season get started good. It's the beginning of the season and the recent hard freezes didn't help.
Hopefully the crawfish stay good until the mid summer this year.

Just wait until later in the season. Way too early for good crawfish right now.

Bought a couple pounds today in metaire at $5.50/lb....usually around this time if year you can expect high 3's-4. Though the cold weather has certainly had an adverse affect.

Cold ponds with ice= no bugs. You should feel damn lucky that your place could even get them.

Putting aside the coldest winter in a long time, it's super early in the season.

crawfish is a hot weather critter...those of you who insist on buying them in the dead of winter deserve the screwing that you get....carry on...
