It's a local "chain". The most they ever had was 4 locations, all in Baton Rouge.

It's actually local.
But it looks just like a chain, appearance-wise

There are Marie Callender's restaurants that my family would take me to when I lived in the Rockies and I thought it was the same chain when I first moved here.
Most area restaurants come up in casual conversation with friends, even if it's a negative review, and over all the years, there's been no mention of Calendars (I don't ever remember reading anything here for instance). I can't have any opinion on the food since I've never eaten there, but the outside just has the appearance of mediocre corporate food, never really piquing my attention.

i have driven by that location at least 2 times a day for over 10 years and have maybe stopped there to eat two or three times .. just never stood out, imo ... i was good friends with stephanie guzzardo -- the young lady that was the manager at the calendar's on perkins that was murdered by a piece of shite fired dishwasher .. calendar's just never was the same for me after that ..

As far as I can remember, it's not good. I was just letting ya know that it's not a corporate chain even though it looks like one

That location is great for A restaurant, the entirety of what is that shopping center used to be the parking lot of the original Mike Andersons minus the footprint of the restaurant. It was always packed.

The tragic shooting a while back led to this.

Who's joining me for their last day of business?

I should, it's been awhile since I've been there... John, the manager at that Calendar's for many years knows me from my wild days. He could tell some stories about me that would make your head do the "casty" the whole time.
Now, I only think of crazy shite, and not actually act it out like I used to do in the past. lol

I believe this way actually a TJ Applebees at first, or one of those types. Then became locally owned and changed names. Then again, why did Applebees drop the TJ'S?

'll tell him hi for you. He would manage while my brother was bartending.
I might know your brother
Did he used to date this girl Bonnie at R and K's?
Doubtful that he would remember me even if that is him. It's been a long time since I've seen most of those people.

The original Calendar's locations were TJ Applebee's, managed by the Calendar's owner. He purchased the stores, Applebee's moved out of the area. Calendar's went with all fresh ingredients instead of the pre-packaged meals and salads that you would get from Bennigan's, Applebees, etc., which is why there was such an improvement on the food there.
I'm not sure if Pepper Tree is still around in Hammond, but that restaurant was launched with help from the Calendar's owner and possibly still carries some of the Calendar's items on their menu.
There were a few other restaurants opened around the state that were opened by Calendar's employees who had stolen the menu and recipes, not sure if any of them are still around.

If you love the Calendar's Chicken Strips ( I loved them), then go to the Londoner and check out their chicken and chips. Very good and almost identical...

I didn't want to start a new thread, but it's about as close as I've seen to Calendars. Good stuff...
