Why do people have to put down people that drink bud light or the other cheap beers like that.I have been around people that put other guys down because they like more expensive beer because they have more money and i dont get it.

Well sewer trash people usually prefer to drink sewer water. Don't take it personally.

When I'm consuming volume I go for a domestic of some nature, either a budlight, st Arnold's lawnmower, or Abita. Nothing fancy over here. However if I'm only going to have a couple and am sitting in front of a massive selection of malt and hop goodness, the last thing I want to drink is a beer I can find anywhere. It's more so about the experience of the drink, complexities of aromas and flavors, and respect for the brewer taking a little more time and effort to create such a craft product. It's almost like saying why do wine drinkers look down upon yellow tail like they do...

I compare it to people who only eat fast food and prefer it to trying different local "mom and pop" places. The satisfaction with mediocrity I guess is what gets to most beer snobs. So I would ask, wouldn't you rather eat good food than fast food?

The amount of money you make doesn't necessarily mean you have finer tastes. There are plenty of rednecks up here in NLA who have plenty of oil and gas money. Your bank account may not be lacking, but your palate is.

Does cheap beer weigh less than good beer or something?

In the end, I agree with you. And IRL i have friends who only drink Bud Light and Heavy. I never give them a hard time.....although on the OT I might rag on you a little. But IRL, I get kind of get sh*t from those bud drinkers for being uppity. So it cuts both ways.

Cool.

Like zappa said, irl i get much more shite than i dish out between my friends, family, etc. People look at me funny when i pour my beer out of a bottle into a glass or even when i ask for a glass

I take all comers. I'm not a snob, I'm a connoisseur. I'll drink whatever, and be totally content. I usually make my choice based on what's available, where I'm at, and how much I'll be consuming.

I don't make fun of people for only drinking domestics, I make fun of people for being afraid to branch out, and try new/better quality/tasting stuff.

this. and it has nothing to do with money, something that was insinuated earlier in this thread. I don't buy more expensive imports and micros because i can afford it; i buy them because i like the taste.

this whole micro versus big beer debate is really dumb, in most cases. my favorite styles of beer are Ales, IPAs, PA, APA, ESBs, Stouts. Last I checked, the big beer makers didn't make too many (any?) beers in those styles. I'm not a big fan of American adjunct lagers or light lagers. It has more to do with style preferences, than snobbery.

if anyone genuinely looks down on someone because of a beer preference, well that is just dumb.

I've past the point of caring about what others drink, though I do use a Stone glass that says "Fizzy Yellow Beer is for Wussies"

The only times it affects me are:
1. People leave that nasty shite at my house after a gathering and I have to get rid of it. Of course, this works out well for coworkers, as they get free beer
2. When I go to buy beer an the shelves are loaded down with dozens of different bottle types or can count packages of th same beer, which is a tactic used by InBev and MillerCoors to maximize exposure. Unfortunately it pushes crafts out all together.
3. When I have to explain that Blue Moon, Shock Top, Zeigenbock, etc. are not craft beers, they are actually produced by the major labels to compete directly with another brand. Zeigenbock is marketed here in Texas as a Texas product, made just for Texas, when it's actually made by AB for the sole purpose of competing with Shiner.

So, you see, it's not what you drink that concerns me, it's who you support by buying it.

I agree with disliking the fake microbrewed craft beers you mentioned. I prefer the variety that micros bring to the consumer. Also, going somewhere like the The Hay Merchant and seeing an awesome beer menu makes me happy.

I still drink Miller Lite as a default after yard work, on the boat, or at a Boil, but I don't gravitate to the Mass Market beers in the store. They simply don't have the taste, complexity, or variety that I prefer day in and out.
