I see these threads as half serious / half fricking with the FDB crew.
He purposely takes pictures at nice or popular places to make the food look like shite. Seems to be a backhanded shot at all the real FoodPorn posters.

How is he trying too hard? His writing style and hedonistic approach differs from the typical banal food reviews found here and across the web, and I for one applaud it.

Not surprised to hear about Pelican Club. I felt pretty much the same: disappointed. Place either needs to come into the 21st century or start doing classic dishes better. Can't live in between.
That PoC burger looks great. Need to more evenly spread out that bleu cheese though.

If this is his philosphy, he's not making good choices.
I don't hear anyone knighting for the Pelican Club or Rib Room.
Now if he was pulling this at Peche, Domenica, and Butcher Shop than we would have something to talk about.

Has a lot less to do with "real food porn" posters and more to do with him having a fraction of the posts I have, yet 1500 total threads (not exaggerating).
I wrote him off as a poster who was not serious a long time ago. I don't mind these threads, but to say I take it seriously would be a stretch.
Mocking is just the vibe I get. I cannot help that I feel that way
