I found out the owner of the local antique/junk store has a husband that loves old bottles. I carried a Beemans BQR bottle, 2 Nehi bottles and 2 Clo-White bottles, and added $15 to trade for this old 12 inch cast iron skillet today. It is a little rusty, but in good shape overall.

Will you be posting pics of your restoration process on your two latest cast iron finds?

That will be good for frying chicken.

I will. I am going to get the large stew pot from a couple of weeks ago bead blasted, to get a head start on the cleaning process. The rust in it is deeper than I thought.

I will just use an SOS pad on the 12 inch skillet I got today, just surface rust on it.

Have you tried a soda blaster before?

Never heard of it, I will look into it, though.

Uses baking soda as an abrasive, supposed to be easier on the metal.

Did an online search to see if anyone advertized soda blasting in my area of the country and came up with nothing. I will ask around and see next week.

I do know a guy that bead blasts though.

I was thinking I had read you posting that. I will do that on the 12 inch skillet before I finish with a SOS pad, or should I do it after?
