All that's if they don't open Morganza right?

To be honest I dont really know. I just know that alot of my customers in Morgan City, Amelia, and Berwick are having me do pickups early so they can move equipment and oil tanks to higher ground.

USACE has ordered explosive slurry pumped into the fuse plug of the Birds Point - New Madrid Floodway. There are two steps yet to be ordered before the floodway is activated for the first and only time since 1937. It doesn't take a soothsayer to realize where this is headed.

The final order will destroy 11,000 feet of frontline levee 1,000 feet at a time sending a virtual tsunami to inundate 133,000 acres of prime farmland.

Everyone hold on to your hats because your asses are about to become wet.

It was awesome in 08. The water looks so close to the top of the levee. Water starts to seep up on the other side of the levee and frick up roads and stuff.

I'm wondering how it will affect the fishing. Some friends at coffee said so much for the fishing. I, on the other hand, feel that since fish like water...

How?

Morganza WILL be opened, bet on it. Hesco baskets are being prepared to be put on levers as well.

I just read on some other sites that the updated forecast crest at Red River Landing is 62 feet. 1927 was 60.94. Also hearing that the Memphis chief hydrologist actually asked for prayer and indicated they think the river might reach the tops of the levees on the Arkansas side. This could get very interesting.

This may be a dumb question ...

But the bike path on the levee at the end of skip bertman and river road ...

is the river gonna be like 3 feet from the top of that thing or what? Will they still let people up there at that time?

How come this is not a news story covered in the media yet? All I see is where the river is expected to crest and no one is mentioning any danger because of it.

Where the hell is Jim Cantore?!?!

Certainly not a dumb question at all. From what I understand, yes and no. Yes it will be from the top of that and no they will close it off, according to what someone posted earlier anyway. Still, I'd think on a bike you'd be able to go but I'm not 100% about any of this in answering your question.

here is a shot i found on the internet. i'm a total loss. Sad thing is, we got another 4 or 5 inches of rain

where are good Catholic kids going to play lacrosse? I guess the field turf can always be steam cleaned, but at what cost?

i'm so shook up, i forgot to include the picture.

If the Morganza Spillway is opened, will that affect the bridge on 190 that goes over it?

LIDAR elevation data. Sorry, my grad school work centered on Ascension Parish. You can take a guess at which areas would be safer if something were to happen to the levee. Area of depression is obviously Spanish Lake/Bluff Swamp/Bayou Fountain area.
