League members won't pay dues. Wwyd?

Buddy of mine texts me day of draft he needed one add to a league. 12 team standard with a modest $20 buyin. I say sure.
I don't know but a few guys, but turns out no one paid dues pre-season like I do in all my other leagues. Now, I win my league and my buddy says good luck trying to collect dues. Wtf?!?
How do you go about this? I didn't bother folks with it being christmas, but I can't wait too long. It's $200 which is something Id like to collect.

If you are being serious, that's complete BS. I would say that it's on the commissioner to pay you (but good luck collecting on that), it's his job to make sure everyone has paid so that he can pay out the winner. Your commissioner is completely incompetent, dues should be paid prior to the draft.
Clearly I wouldn't join this league again.

complete bullshite. I would call my buddy out on it. If he refuses to get the money. Id make one attempt to contact the players and see if they will pay. If not, that sucks and don't play again. Then punch your buddy in the face

Never join a league in which you don't know the commissioner well enough to shame him into paying out your winnings.

I am commissioner of several leagues. I try my best to collect my dues before leagues start but I'm not always successful. If I ever come up short at the end of the year, I would eat the loss though and just never let whoever didn't pay me play again and it would likely ruin friendships.

Just freeze the non payers' lineups till dues are paid. People don't use common sense when setting fantasy league rules.

This. I've only ever joined one league where I didn't know the majority of the players and it ended up being one of the worst experiences. I now only do money leagues with family or friends I've known for a while. It's all fun in the beginning but once the championship gets closer and closer, some will do whatever it takes to win it all, even if it means cheating.

Oh and another thing, call them out on Facebook in front of their friends and family. That's how I got the money out of a couple guys who didn't wanna pay up.
