There's no proposed date for the MLB season to start. That rumor running around today is false. Sorry.

Baseball is coming! All hail Trevor Plouffe!

Major League Baseball expects to offer a return-to-play proposal to the MLB Players Association within a week as teams have begun to encourage players to prepare for a "spring" training that could begin in mid-June and a season that would start in early July, sources familiar with the discussions told ESPN.

I would love to see it, but I don't see how they start in July. Unless they plan to start the season without fans in the stadiums.

Tennessee will still be in "Phase 3" through most of July which is limited to 100 people max at gatherings. I know there is no MLB team here, but we're also ahead of a lot of the country in terms of opening up.

I would guess that's the plan.

And hope to get to 10 maybe 20K fans in the stands by the playoffs

I was thinking about this...gonna have to be some season tix refunds...maybe those are the only people who can attend?

That being said, I'm pulling for July 1, but the issue will be that not all states/cities will be fully opened. I can see NYC, Chicago and the Cali cities being a problem.

You could probably still open up suites since they each seat less than 100 and have some separation.

@JeffPassan

The MLB owners have approved a proposal to present to players, as @Ken_Rosenthal reported. They plan to meet tomorrow to discuss it.

Now is when it starts to get serious. And we'll know soon enough if baseball is actually coming back in 2020.

How low is that initial ball from the owners?

This may be old news... but Paul O'Neill's baseball reference page has a pretty funny easter egg.
