I just finished my first season in a dynasty league (10 teams, 23 roster spots, 2 IR) and was wondering how everyone else does their rookie draft.

Right now we have a lottery for the first round (to deter tanking...The 6 teams who don't make the playoffs try to get the most points for the most balls in a NBA-style lottery). After that the worst record gets the first pick in the second and third round (only 3 rounds in the rookie draft).

Thoughts? Help?

Lottery is dumb

If you want to implement an anti tanking system, determine the draft positions by potential points during the regular season. Optimal lineups each week determine a W or L only in the sense of draft order.

It doesn’t change the actual standings for playoffs

We just do reverse order.

If someone wants to waste an entire year on someone that may not play out they can go ahead.

We keep 18 players with a roster of 22.

So 4 spots open up each year. Then we have a big text group and draft our rookies. You have your choice on how many you want to draft. Then the Commish edits the rosters with the right players. Then Everyone remaining first goes through a waiver cycle then you can fill your team with remaining players

It has nothing to do with that. If a team realizes in week 9 that they aren't competing, they will tank. Team A, B, and C had to face the tanking team at full strength, while team's D, E, F got to face the tanking team when they were tanking.

It ruins the playoff race and the timing of schedule is unfair in many ways.

Also, tanking for Barkley, Zeke, or Gurley was worth the cause.

We have 12 teams, 23 players, and 13 keepers.

Draft position determined by season finish.

No one tanks, or if they do, it hasn't made a difference.

We can trade draft picks. That's been a big deal. You can trade decent players you can't keep for draft picks.

Well my league that is coming up on its 7th year has no rules against it and it has yet to be an issue.
