Most doctors don't know squat about the interactions of different medications.

I would likely have not gotten it if not for inevitable international travel for work.

I wish Drs would use a team approach to patients (ie, GP + Cardi + whatever) all using one system and seeing whole treatment versus their own slanted lens. Starting to see more of that and why risk of what you experienced.

The mighty computer should easily flag mis-matched medicines for a patient. Systems lacks that control, hear you.

May I ask...when you go out, are you actively trying not to spread it to others?
Yes, when I am out I keep my distance from people, if I feel a cough or sneeze coming on I retreat and do so in my elbow. I wash my hands, use hand sanitizer, and try not to touch my face. I don't do that because I am scared, it just seems like common decency to be kind to others. People who intentionally cough and sneeze on other people are arse holes - covid or no covid.

Great - so take the vaccine if you deem fit. Your choice. It just isn't for me and I don't need it.

To each their own.

I think not spreading it is important. Vax or no vax, no spread behaviors matters to those who are vulnerable and life threatened.

Right and I don't have family members, friends, co-workers who are in that category so there is no need for me to take the vaccine or to let someone give my kids the vaccine that really isnt a vaccine as we all know them to be defined.

Or are required by their employer to get it.

I can't speak for every hospital as some are firing people, but at the one I work at, as long as the vaccines are EUA they are not firing anyone for not receiving it.

Almost all of the physicians I know (including myself, my wife, my two brothers, my dad, my SIL, my BIL) are vaccinated. I am in a group of 6, close contact with another very large cohort and there is virtually no vaccine hesitance (or however you want to label that phenomenon). My closest friends and family in the medical profession range from primary care to subspecialists (including PCCM and ER which are as frontline as one can get), and pure private practice to academic based, so there is a good cross section for me to draw my experience from.

sounds like your risk analysis landed on "worth it" to me. I am not in that situation so I don't need it. So not worth the risk for me. The safety of people I come across in public places being in "danger" because of my individual vax status is of no concern to me, as one's personal safety is one's own responsibility. If you are at risk, protect yourself as you see fit. I am under no obligation to get an experimental drug because you feel unsafe. That's on you.

Throughout history of medicine Drs. have been wrong many times.Accepted medical practices have numerous times been found to be worthless and in some cases, harmful.
There have been many advances in areas of medicine such as cardiology, orthopedics, cancer, for example but specialists in all these areas don’t have a tremendous amount of knowledge outside their specialty. If I needed a knee replacement I know several orthopedists I would trust but I sure wouldn’t ask their opinion, nor would I care what they thought about Covid vaccinations.Ophthalmologists do great things in eye surgery these days but I wouldn’t go to them for blood pressure management or vaccine advice.
