TCL 6 series issues

I just got on to post this and saw someone else inquiring about TCL. I bought my 6 series at release after a lot of anticipation on this board. It was my first 4k purchase. I must have gotten the short end of the stick because this thing has continued to break down in so many different ways.
The image quality started out amazing. Several months in though, it began to develop a green and sometimes pink band around the edges of the screen. I contacted BestBuy about a replacement and they told me they couldn't and I'd have to go through TCL. I pulled out the manual and the warranty was running out in a month. The return process was extremely tedious and I did not have the time or resources to complete it before the warranty ended.
I decided to live with it, but things got worse from there. At one point all blacks turned to green and I had to lower the black level to fix it. It then developed this mesh pattern on the entire lower half of the screen. Now, the most recent cherry on top is that if I use the remote to turn it off, it won't turn back on until I unplug it from the wall. If I were to let it stay on overnight and auto-power off, it will turn on using the remote the next day.
I won't be able to buy a new tv any time soon because I've been unemployed for a few months now, but is there a tv anyone would recommend going forward? I don't need anything crazy. I barely game anymore and just want decent hdr quality and reliability is a priority at this point.

I ordered a TCL 6 Series a couple of days before I found out that Roku was dropping YouTube TV. Not a huge deal, because I think they'll work things out. The TV arrived and had a Crack in the screen. I decided to go with the Hisense H9G, instead because f the YTTV issue,, the fact that I was torn initially because the two sets were so close, and I was intrigued by Android TV.
I love it, so far, and I really like Android TV better than Roku or Fire TV, so far. You might want to try the Hisense - I paid $699 for mine.

I would check FB market for a used TV. I see them for $100 all the time.

TCL and Hisense are both Chinese state-owned companies. Enough said for me.
Sony (Japan/Mexico) and Samsung (sKorean/Mexico) are your best bets. Vizio (American/Mexico) is the better of the less expensive brands.
Panasonic (Japanese) is probably best but hard to find and real expensive right now. Toshiba (Japanese) was once near the top but has failed to keep up of late.

Buy American, Japanese or Korean. Vizio, Sony, Samsung, or LG.
Spend the extra 100 and avoid cheap Chinese made junk.

Are any of them NOT using Chinese parts?
I got a Hisense and it works and looks good, so far.
I had a Sony that was junk. I have owned a lot of TVs (Vizio, Sony, Sharp, Samsung, Panasonic, TCL, and now, Hisense) and I haven't seen a direct correlation between brand and long term performance. My very first flat screen tv was a Sony, and it's still going strong after over 15 years and is in my guest room. I bought another Sony later on and it lasted a little over a year, before I threw it away. The next best TV I've had is a Panasonic plasma. Still going strong. The worst TV I ever had was a Sharp. I wasn't expecting the Sharp to perform like a high end Sony, but I was expecting it to last longer than a year.
I have several TCLs that I have bought over the last 5 or 6 years, and all of them are still working strong - never had any problems with any of them. I bought the HiSense to replace a Vizio that is probably 7 years old and has given us problems for the last 3 or 4 years.
What I tend to do is put the oldest/worst TV that we have in the guest room or the basement. Whenever a tv in my house breaks, I'll replace it with the tv that is in my living room or master bedroom and buy the new one for the living room/master bedroom. That way, the newest technology is always in the living room or the master bedroom. Right now, I have a Hisense in my living room (just bought it), a TCL in my master bedroom, and a Samsung in my man cave.

Bro fr frick three TVs. I bought one six months ago and it died two days ago. It stopped displaying picture for a couple of days after I updated it and then after unplugging and factory resetting via audio assistant, it came back on only to die completely.
POS. Will be buying a new Sony here like I should have from the start!

I love my TCL 6.. but there's something about watching that light blink on the bottom of the screen when you turn it on..... just knowing that it's reporting home to the Beijing mothership
