The most important part of the equation and the most ignored aspect by politicians.

$5 million

Won't even clean up all the roadside dumping/debris.

That right there tells me this will all be for nothing. Nice things and “affordable housing” can not and will not ever coexist.

So they are awarding $500 million to 7 cities with Baton Rouge being 1 of the 7. Am I right in thinking that the other $495 million will be split amongst the remaining 6 cities?

BTR can't even do government handouts right. If this is correct(that's how I read it) that works out to $82.5 for the other 6 if split equally.

If the community gets behind this in a positive way it could have a net positive effect.

Key word. If it was the type of community to get behind a project like this then it wouldn’t need a project like this in the first place.

NBR's only chance would be if laws are enforced and jail/prison sentences are upheld. Drugs, welfare mentality, reverse racism and no family values won't be fixed anytime soon.

I don't even think this would have much impact.

I'd rather this $5M be used to buy up a few lots of housing and park area on the outer skirts of the ghetto, renovate, and sell to higher value homeowners.

If BR does this enough over time, we could raise the economy, lower crime, and improve land value for much less than continually trying to change people's engrained behavior. Let another city/state deal with the leachers and let time change people's behavior.
