I’m wore out from travel and flight delays and am considering hitting this Sonny’s bbq next to the hotel as opposed to ubering somewhere better. Never had Sonny’s bbq. Is it edible?

It’s decent. I’ve heard people on this board claim it’s some of the best in Baton Rouge but that’s not saying much.

Thanks. The name brings to mind Dickey’s bbq which is pretty awful. I’ll try this Sonny’s I think..

Good luck, Mr. Balls. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and country gravy here. With a little beer and wine. Celebrating hump day.

I passed the Sonny’s in BR yesterday at lunch and it was packed. I haven’t been on that side of town in awhile, it’s looking a bit dated. Think they had zips in the wire.

Sonny’s is fine. I really like their spicy BBQ sauce. I had a pork chop that I overlooked with roasted potatoes and sprouts that were damn tasty.

The Pensacola Sonny’s I hit didn’t offer Brussels sprouts. Just the run of the mill bbq place sides. I went with the 4 meat sampler, beans and “homemade” slaw.

Luckily they didn’t give me much brisket because I almost dehydrated to death on the little bit they flung on there. The 2 ribs probably were good on Monday. Not so much today. The chicken looked the part but turned out to be unseasoned tofu wrapped on a bone. The pulled pork hidden under the Texas toast I believe was boiled. The beans gave me diabetus and the cole slaw was worse than anything aunt Mildred brought to functions back in the 80’s. I’m not saying I wouldn’t eat there again. But it would have to be the only thing between me and death by starvation.

It was the star for sure. Honestly it wrapped around the boiled pork with Mildred’s slaw and a few of Wilford’s beans wasn’t all that bad.

Sonny’s in BR

Went last night, first time in years. Not bad! The sweet BBQ sauce is great. $40 family feast is enough for a family of 4 to eat twice. Pulled pork and ribs were the best meats. Garlic toast was > the plain white bread you get at Texas BBQ joints. Only complaint was the brisket and white meat chicken were both dry.
