He said he was willing to take below market for his value (within reason) to stay, and he did. $17 mil for a premier 3 down DE who's never missed a game is a good deal. He could have gotten $20 mil on the open market (if he was a FA this year; 2 years down the road who knows).

yeah, but lets not completely make this about him not wanting to make market money, it was more him wanting to secure his long term security. Its a risk playing his contract out for the bigger pay day.

This deal is a paycut. He could have easily gotten 20 million. The guy has not missed a game his entire NFL career. He’s the heart and soul of the defense. He wants to be a saint for life.

Appreciate you clarifying.. Wasn't trying to troll, was just first thing that popped in my head when saw the numbers. Looks like a great deal.

I feel like some people have this conversation, but you can definitely start mentioning Cam Jordan as one of the greatest Saints of all time.
His performance, leadership, and love for the city and team is something that has occurred few times before with other players.

Yes and no, He could've gone to the highest bidder and if he has a bad season or an injury, he gets cut and his career would be potentially over. He is smart enough to look at 5 years from now as opposed to 2.

Extremely happy for Cam. He's a great player who deserves his due and a great guy.
