quote:Yep. Why not The Greatest Story Ever Told or King of Kings or something else instead? The life, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus.
It's a classic and staple, but the correlation was off. And I was raised a fairly strict Catholic. Why is Moses parting the Red Sea during Jesus crucifixion and resurrection?

Your first post sucked. You redeemed it with your second.

They just don’t make movies like this anymore. Not that it has anything to do with this but another one like this, epic, is Midway,

I was thinking Ben Hur. Another Heston Easter Classic in our house.

Always liked the first act of the film When Heston and Brenner were in so many scenes together fighting for their fathers affection.
"A dead slave builds nothing."
Totally sticking it in Rameses eye for his brutality.

such an epic movie; what a piece of art, from 1956.

I'm gonna get downvoted for this, but I enjoy the Prince of Egypt more.
You did get downvoted, totally undeservedly.
The Prince of Egypt is one of the most underrated animated movies of all time. Some of the finest hand-drawn animation ever, a totally stacked voice cast (Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Patrick Stewart, Helen Mirren, Jeff Goldblum, Sandra Bullock), and it set a new standard for telling mature stories with all the breadth and vision allowed by animation.
But, you know, I've watched Charleton Heston bellow for 3 hours every Easter for 30 years, so you must be wrong. The Ten Commandments is a great spectacle film and Yul Brenner in particular just kills it, but The Prince of Egypt is a better overall movie.

Prince of Egypt is VERY sold.
Bet it is not a Cecil B. DeMille

The Ten Commandments
Great movie, but growing up in a religious home it got way overplayed (sort of how it's hard for me to enjoy It's a Wonderful Life or A Christmas Story). Saw all of them WAY too much to like them anymore.
