I thought the first season was hilarious. Towards the end of that season, when he was starting to get popular, he became an insufferable douche bag.

Second season he became woke and it completely turned me off this show. I’m sick of shitty political views ruining potentially funny shows.

Is it just me?

Incredible show.

Main character isn’t likeable but that doesn’t take away from the show. Actually makes it better.

You sound like you are too easily offended.

Season 1 is amazing imo

I watched the first 3-4 of season 2 and did not enjoy it at all

Woah, tone it down a little mr overreaction. Season 1 was good but season 2 got too woke and somber

How is season 2 woke?

He has a bromance with Benny Blanco, blows off Doja Cat, makes a fool of himself in South Korea, has a very awkward Bar Mitzvah, shows his early days as an ad man, recreates the XXL cypher, is a jerk to his manager and Gata, acts self-absorbed around his parents, is self-indulgent in the mansion his labels rents for him, and finally makes it up for Gata at the VMAs. You also have whatever the frick the Rick Rubin episode is.

It isn’t as good as Season 1, and he does a weird thing where Dave on the show is far more annoying than Dave IRL (all of his IRL people say this).

But how is is preachy, left wing, or woke?

I thought the only episodes that really stood out were the Mountain Dew/XXL cypher episode and the one with Doja Cat.

I’m only a few episodes into season 2. So just off the top of my head:

Last episode of season 1 with the breakfast crew.
Some of the conversation with gata and his boy by the pool in the weird arse Benny episode.
The entire conversation with Kareem Abdul Jabbar in that episode.

It’s not IN YOUR FACE woke, but it’s enough for me to sigh and think, Jesus Christ we get it, you think black people are held down by the white devil.

Season 2 is REALLY slow to get going but the last 2-3 episodes are amazing.

If anything Gata’s comment were AGAINST the woke crowd.

That’s true

I don’t think the season was super in your face woke. It wasn’t as good as season 1 for sure though.

I stand by it. Incredible show. As outrageous as some of the shite is, realer emotions on that show than anything else out right now.

The first few episodes of season 2 were awful, but the payoff in the last couple episodes was massive.
