Then he said, “ guess they got what they deserved” in the postgame press conference. We got them in Florida the following year and guess he got what he deserved when he was fired after lying about death threats, among other things. I don’t care what it takes, he can’t leave Tiger stadium feeling good again, and that means no moral victories by playing us close.

That’s a negative. Go back and watch it. If Guice goes to the left instead of right into the line, he has a good seal on the edge with a blocker in front and a head of steam. All he has to do is cross the plane from a yard away vs a safety, who he should easily beat.

Dude you're delusional I was there and have watched it several times that was a text book toss dive guaranteed to get us zero yards. The toss dive is exactly that a dive up the middle (albeit by a pitch instead of a handoff) not to one side or the other.

CMU is a G5 school
JSU is an FCS school
Losing to CMU would be awful but not nearly as bad as an FCS school. CMU would probably destroy JSU.

You have no idea what you are talking about.
The Guard is sealing inside and doing a good job of it. The Tackle chips and heads to the second level. The TE has the edge. If Guice goes outside, the DE is crashing inside (right toward where he ends up running) and won’t recover. It’s him on the Safety to get in.
Plenty of toss dives go outside the tackles. I’m not talking about a fricking sweep. Could Etling have made a better toss? Sure. But the play was obviously not designed to go inside. It was designed to be the toss version of a counter.
If the play were designed to go inside, the Tackle would not have done what he did. He would have held his block on the edge. He made absolutely no attempt to do that.
