The stories are already written - the media will use Newsome's recall victory as proof that Americans love them some COVID lockdowns, restrictions, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and more.

The talking heads will ask rhetorical questions like "Do you think other state governments will look at Newsome's victory and feel it is more politically safe to re-institute tougher actions to combat COVID in their own state?"

and

"Do you think this will put pressure on governors like DeSantis and Abbott who may be wondering right now if their lax attitude toward fighting COVID is not as popular as they believe it is?"

It's all coming - its already been written and the TV segments already produced

That’s a losing news strategy.

Judging by these results, Democrats are more popular today than they were in 2020

Lockdowns are popular

Having lived in CA, I actually believe this is the case.... in California.

They are not popular at all in most states except the deep blue ones like those on the left coast and Northeast.

So when the media inevitably runs with the "lockdowns are popular nationwide" narrative tomorrow, its bunk

So in retard world, a Governor having to fend off a recall means he is popular? Popular Governors don’t get recalled.

I live in a 70% Trump county in SC and I was at Food Lion this afternoon and about 40% of the shoppers had masks on. This country has become a Nanny State cesspool.

This is why I left Las Vegas.

Once the mask mandate came back I was out.

I could have stayed in Las Vegas. I liked it there. But Nevada has a democrat governor, and now has unsolicited mail in ballots enshrined into law. I didn't see much hope for the state to not elect more democrats to run the state in the future.

No doubt Sisolak will see these results and use that as the reasoning for his inevitable tougher COVID mandates and restrictions.

I signed the recall petition, but everywhere I went it seemed there was someone trying to get people to sign it. I had at least a dozen people come up to me at various points with a petition. I could only sign it once. I think people underestimate how many illegals truly vote in CA.

Same in Fort Worth... I'd say about 50% of the people I see at the grocery store wear masks.

Even my church is about 40% masks, and its not a liberal church either

The only place indoors I don't see a lot of masks is my gym.

Unfortunately, Nevada (especially Clark County) became California East. The political locusts have arrived. Utah's looking much more attractive these days.

You're probably correct. However, suggested smartass retorts:

- rolling blackouts are widely popular!
- massive homelessness is widely popular!
- high unemployment is widely popular!
- sidewalk defecation is widely popular!
- wildfires are wildly popular!
- cardboard straws are wildly popular!

I am sure there are others.

The mask mandates, etc are not popular in NE states like NJ and NY. What you have in both is disproportional representation. The people in Syracuse and Buffalo can hate something and not want it but because a small highly populated NYC corridor freaks out, it goes statewide. Look at Illinois. The people downstate objected to Chicago trucking its garbage to the South of the state, the power in the legislature is concentrated in the Chicagoland area and thus, huge landfills in places like Vienna and and Effingham.

Yeah they’re wildly popular. Just ignore the “frick Joe Biden” chants at so many venues. That’s just people wishing to have sexual intercourse with the dear leader.
