Emery and class load/schedule question.

Most college students enroll in more classes(credit hours) than needed,so if they need to drop one or two classes, they're still classified as a full time student.
Why didn't Emery do the same? Doesn't sound as if this is a LSU advisor or football staff caused issue.
Emery knew how many credit hours he needed to earn to remain eligible over the summer.

Unless things have drastically changed, this is not the case.
Football players (used to) get their schedule with priority registration handed to them by their tutors. And did not deal with any struggles that a normal college student endures or experiences.
This sounds like a colossal error on the Student/Athlete Study Center, or we are not being told the truth. Their schedules are made for them and there are proctors that do head counts for attendance. I doubt the ineligibility is due to an error on the administration. It just doesn't add up.

Football players tend to take a light load in the fall and typically go to school year round. Many graduate in 3 yrs.

This is what I was told from a coach in LSU:
12 hours is full-time enrollment, as usual. When add/drop period goes on, you are told to ADD first before dropping, because if you are below your 12 hours even for a second, you are immediately part-time and ruled ineligible. It's really stupid, but they preach it to the athletes on campus.
It's very likely that this is what happened and it's basically a user error on Emery's side.

In order to remain eligible a student athlete must earn 20% of their total degree hours per year. For example: if they been 160 hours to graduate, they need to earn 32 hours per Academic year. Sounds like he needed a bunch of classes in the summer.

Emery has people who schedule his classes around football practices. If he drops a class they gotta make sure to replace it with a few library science or military classes.

This all starts at the top with O. Proficient football departments have people on staff to keep this sort of thing from happening. It illustrates a dysfunctional program without the standard checks and oversight.

It doesn't sound like he's attended much school. Period.

You must maintain a 12 hour schedule but you only have to pass 9 hours (18 total for the year) per semester.
GPA requirements:
1.8 GPA after 2 semesters
2.0 GPA after the 4th semester (and beyond)
Not hard to do with all the intercession options.
Sounds like he was lagging in passing the 18 hours and only passed 15.

And also you must have 40% of the required hours after year 2, 60% after year three, and 80% after year 4. So an interdisciplinary studies major would need 48 hrs after year 2.

His lawyer says he missed classes because of Covid in his family. His grandmother ideas, his mom was ill, and his stepdad was on a respirator.
I’d say that would be enough to frick most people’s schedule up.
