Was shocked to see this on Youtube yesterday as Queen "are notorious blockers"- Beato's favorite phrase for artists that normally block him from using any of their content in his videos.

Here's a good video from Queen's offical Youtube account on the making of Bohemian Rhapsody that goes along nicely with Beato's video

Good to see the artists are realizing that Rick is using their music as instructive and as a tribute to their music and their songwriting craft.

To be fair, its really the record companies or whoever owns and/or manages the publishing that does the blocking. They just take an absolute position their music can't be used. Doubt an artist like say Queen or Led Zepplin would even know Rick Beato or why he is using their music.

Time for you to have a conference call with Axl Rose and Don Henley.

I would love to hang out with him in a music studio for a day. His wealth of knowledge and insight would be invaluable.

I think my main subject I'd want to learn more about with him would be about mixing metal music better than I do. How to better use compression, better low end in the mix with the bass and kick drums, etc.

Sounds simple, but its really not. Not for me anyways, with my sound damaged ears. Cause I needed that 100w head and 4x12 in my bedroom at 14.

You should check out Rick's video on the recording of Led Zeps "When The Levee Breaks". All about how they captured that drum sound.

That’s pretty cool. That would have been right around when he was helping write Shinedown’s first album.

It was and he was about to start work with Fozzy, too.

We went for two weeks and he told us that the following week after we were leaving, Elton John was coming.

He's mentioned his meeting with Elton - that was the week after he worked with us.

I couldn’t imagine putting the time and effort he does into those videos only to see them get blocked. He makes no money off of the videos.
