Who could blame her for being a little "craycray" if you know her personal history. Her parents fled Czechoslovakia when the Warsaw Pact invaded in 1968, leaving her as a 3 year old with her grandmother. It was seven years before she was re-united with her parents in Sweden, after her mother returned to try to get her and was "detained" by the authorities until international political pressure resulted in their release.

As a child in Sweden she was subjected to intense bullying at school because of being a Czech foreigner. Her father left and parents divorced, leaving the family in dire straits. Discovered by John Casablancas at the age of 13 when her friend who wanted to be a makeup artist sent in a photo of her. This is the actual photo that launched her career:



She left Sweden and went to Paris on her own at 15 to work as a model. That was a difficult situation back in the early 80s. She was exposed to parties and drug use. There were people who preyed on young models' vulnerability. I don't know if "interesting" is the accurate word to describe what she has had to say about it all. "I sold my childhood and my teenage years" pretty much sums it up. However, she did stay with Ocasek for nearly 30 years. She is a survivor. And all beautiful women are "craycray".
